Raktamokshana (Cupping/Leech)

Raktamokshana with Cupping Therapy
Raktamokshana, or therapeutic bloodletting, is one of the five major detoxification procedures in Ayurveda (Panchakarma), used to remove impure or vitiated blood from the body. When performed with cupping therapy(shringa), it involves the application of specially designed suction cups that draw out stagnant or impure blood from targeted areas. This method is highly effective for treating localized disorders such as chronic pain, skin conditions, inflammation, and joint issues.

The negative pressure created by the cups improves circulation, facilitates lymphatic drainage, and encourages the removal of metabolic waste. Combined with Ayurvedic principles, cupping-based Raktamokshana not only alleviates physical symptoms but also balances Pitta dosha, clears blocked channels (srotas), and rejuvenates the tissues. It is a precise, safe, and minimally invasive way to restore vitality and inner balance

Raktamokshana with Leech Therapy

(Jalaukavacharana)
Leech therapy, or Jalaukavacharana, is a classical Ayurvedic technique under the broader practice of Raktamokshana that utilizes medicinal leeches to draw out impure blood from specific sites on the body. This natural and highly refined method has been practiced in India for centuries and is especially beneficial in conditions involving deep-rooted inflammation, skin disorders like eczema and psoriasis, varicose veins, and certain vascular or circulatory issues.

The saliva of medicinal leeches contains bioactive compounds with anti-inflammatory, anticoagulant, and analgesic properties, enhancing healing and blood purification. Leech therapy works gently and selectively, making it ideal for delicate areas or patients with sensitivity. More than a traditional detox method, it is a holistic treatment that aligns with the body’s rhythms and supports both systemic and local healing.
